Senior User Experience Designer

We're looking for a talented, experienced, and driven Senior User Experience Designer to join the Macquarium @ Synoptek team and bring their ideas & skills to tough challenges. This is a company that's growing fast and constantly reinventing itself. • Create, defend, and own design artifacts including site maps, user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and some visual design.
• Think beyond the happy path: in design there be dragons, so pay attention to what's around the next corner.
• Move beyond opinion and into evidence by planning and executing user research such as interviews, contextual inquiries, and in-depth usability testing.
• Go broad and iterate: have a process that lets you come up with multiple strong solutions to every problem.
• Be the face of your own designs by presenting directly to clients and guiding them through our collective thinking.
• Collaborate with purpose. There's a wide range of perspectives and experience at Macquarium and among our clients, and you'll need to collaborate effectively to learn, educate, share ideas, and create the best solutions possible.
• Lead working sessions and workshops for discovery, design co-creation, and more.
• Help drive the direction by calling out opportunities to add more customer value.

Minimum Qualifications

• 5-7 years of relevant experience in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.


• Strong experience with creating user flow diagrams, wireframes, interactive prototypes, and similar design deliverables.


• A robust background of making data-informed design decisions and supporting research work such as usability testing or journey mapping.


• Expert proficiency with Sketch, Balsamiq, Figma, Adobe XD, Miro, or similar design & collaboration tools.


• A portfolio of work demonstrating your end-to-end design process and strong project experience.


• An obsession with detail and high-quality execution.


• Exceptional time management skills, with the ability to deliver within tight deadlines and budgets.


• An eagerness to empathize with users.

 Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interactive Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or similar field, or equivalent work experience.


• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Office 365, Teams, etc.), Confluence and JIRA.


• A basic understanding of front-end technologies, uses, and limitations, particularly HTML, CSS, and Javascript.


• A background in UX strategy, product management, or similar design leadership.


• Experience in high-complexity environments such as large-enterprise applications or large-scale ecommerce.
