    Responsibilities

    A Day in the Life

    This is a leadership role responsible for managing the development and delivery of Integration software solutions for the Application Development team built on various technologies.  The role entails managing a dedicated team of developers, working with both internal partners and external partners or vendors. This individual will have hands on involvement in design, development and testing of new software projects, as well as Continuous Improvements for Application Development production systems and interfaces.

    The Basics

    • Support the consulting practice by providing enterprise data warehouse strategies to Synoptek clients; communicate/evangelize the business value of data quality of multiple instances of databases within the clients global organization.
    • Interact and lead discussions with stakeholders to understand and document the scope, business requirements; translate these into the technical design, strategies, and roadmaps to support the Synoptek clients.
    • Lead the translation of business needs into feasible and acceptable data-centric semantic layer designs/data warehouse architectures.
    • Define the data management policy, enterprise business data standards, business data naming standards the data management operating model to help support and assist data stewards for Synoptek clients.
    • Create a strong focus and understanding of how the data models fit into the overall metadata strategy and creating documentation to support.
    • Strategize, architect, and design highly performant and secure structures such as staging areas, integrated data, data marts, cubes and operational data stores.
    • Suggest, document and enforce data warehousing best practices, including overall data warehouse architecture relating to ODS, ETL for a global enterprise with multiple instances in different countries.
    • Estimate and communicate the work effort to EDW management and stakeholders; own the deliverables from inception and review to signoff.
    • Act independently under general direction and provide technical consulting on complex projects throughout the organization.
    • Suggest improvements to data quality through data quality frameworks and preferred processes.
    • Knowledge of defining Master Data Management solutions architecture; setting technical direction and defining component architecture.
    • Plan and build a next generation enterprise data warehouse and integration platform anchored by a cloud platform; or utilizing best practices globally with distributed ERP systems.
    • Strive for data quality and easy to use data models that make business sense; drive the transformation of reporting and analytics.
    • Set the architectural standards for the enterprise data hub (EDH) to ensure it is scalable to a single data warehouse for the company; by utilizing best practices, eliminating redundancy and gaps in the data model.
    • Develop a short- and long-term vision for how enterprise data will be consumed and extended.
    • Understand and document the business challenges for analytics/business intelligence.
    • Identify the analytics that are critical for the solution (KPIs, metrics, descriptive analytics, predictive analytics and prescriptive analytics)
    • Imagine the various analytics solutions to business problems and identify the one that best fits the need, the people and supporting technologies.
    • Architect the solution at a process level and at a technical level.
    • Manage the project team to success and exceed client expectations.
    • Provides strategic project oversight of tasks, deliverables and stakeholders
    • Accountable for strategic management of complex projects (including large migrations) from kick off through final deliverable, coordinating various project elements.
    • Own development of deliverables working with key stakeholders
    • Deliberately manage project prioritization, calendar/scheduling, job routing, execution follow-up and final QA process.
    • Effectively plan, coordinate, track, and report to the client on project team progress.
    • Advanced customer facing skills and ability to navigate highly complex, political organizations.
    • Author content and lead project kick off meetings (travel may be required), while anticipating/ addressing customer questions.
    • Responsible for recurring client touchpoint meetings throughout project duration and knows when to adjust meeting frequency
    • Accountable for successful project transition upon completion
    • Monitor and track status for multiple, complex projects and report regularly in a clear and concise manner. Must be able to effectively identify and escalate potential issues before they materialize
    • Provide ownership of resource and project management including planning, assessment, assignment of projects, while monitoring progress, timelines, managing resources and customer satisfaction .
    • Establish deadlines taking contingency time into account. Assign responsibilities and move responsibilities when needed. When necessary, adjust deadlines and communicate prior to missing target date.
    • Advanced ability to utilize PMO metrics

    Technical Aptitude

    • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent work experience) in computer science/data processing or relevant
    • 6+ years of experience in the IT profession with 3+ years of experience in architecture and implementation of an enterprise Datawarehouse, data management and architecture
    • 4+ years of experience as a data architect, data modeler with a data warehouse
    • Solid understanding of data modeling concepts, structures and database design for operational as well as analytical systems. Advanced or expert knowledge preferred
    • Knowledge of dimensional database structure
    • Experience with data quality profiling and metadata software tools desired; willingness to learn new technologies/methodologies and apply them where appropriate
    • Strong knowledge and experience with data warehouse concepts, data management tools, metrics gathering, tracking, and reporting
    • Experience or familiarity with data extraction/manipulation tools and technologies (e.g. Toad, SQL, Oracle, SAS, Business Objects, Excel (including Power Pivots), Power View, JMP, Tableau, MSBI, Power BI)
    • Skilled in new technical data and data management concepts (Big Data, etc.)
    • Strong proficiency and proven experience using Microsoft Office products, including Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint; particularly strong proficiency with Excel, possessing familiarity with VBA macros, tables and formulas

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

    • Learn and stay up to date on industry trends and changes in governance/stewardship, data quality and metadata disciplines and how trends and changes could be applied to the current processes and practices.
    • Support and promote efforts to communicate and assist with training on data standards, policy, processes and tools.
    • Proficient in the use of the metadata tool and assist in populating or updating metadata as needed.
    • Research and analyze data, including data profiling. Assist with data definition, data quality rule creation, and monitoring process.
    • Understand and implement data warehouses used in real-world situations.
    • Skilled in cloud-based technologies that support data storage, data processing and data movement (AWS, Azure and/or Google Cloud).
    • Ability to understand and work with structured, semi-structured and unstructured data.
    • Proficient in ETL and ELT tools (on premise and cloud based).
    • At least two Analytics visualization tools (i.e. PowerBI, Tableau, SAP Analytics Cloud,Power BI).
    • Structured Query Language (SQL) and relational databases.
    • Data structures: 3NF, star schemas, and data vaults.
    • Java, Python or other programming languages.
    • Basic understanding of machine learning.
    • Excellent communication and ability to interpret technical requirements to external partners and internal teams
    • Considerable ability to give clear and consistent instructions to team members
    • Excels at developing, leading, motivating, mentoring and supervising cross-functional teams
    • Demonstrable problem solving and decision-making skills
