    The Network Implementation Engineer is responsible for supporting the initial implementation, installation, configuration, and ongoing change support for Synoptek’s suite of network and security products.  Working closely with Project Managers and other Engineers, the Network Implementation Engineer will assist in planning, designing, migrating and troubleshooting customer onboarding activities. Engineers work collaboratively with customers to meet contractual obligations in a technical support role and manage customer expectations to ensure that product deployments are successfully completed on time and meet technical, business and operational expectations.  Throughout the project lifecycle, the Engineer monitors and drives to established implementation milestones, and participates in client status calls to ensure that projects remain on schedule.

     

    Occasional evening and weekend work will be required; advance notice will be provided whenever possible. Up to 10% travel required.

    Responsibilities

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Consulting and design of complex networks spanning geographical separation
    • Configuration and deployment of physical and virtual network appliances including firewalls, routers, switches, and access points
    • Responsible for technical side of Synoptek’s IT product & service installation and deployment including configuration and troubleshooting, both remotely and on-site as required
    • Maintains a strong working understanding of Company’s network, systems & cloud architecture used to support the delivery of Synoptek’s products & services
    • Participate in planning meetings with Project Teams and customers
    • Maintains consistent, proactive and open communications with sales, customer, and operations teams at all times
    • Works with project managers, customers, and 3rd party vendors as required to schedule and perform service activation
    • Assist customers with QA to fully test all aspects of the implementation to assure successful go-live and network continuity
    • Provide focused support to include technical troubleshooting and problem resolution during project Go Live phase
    • Participate in technical support transition meetings post implementation to facilitate seamless hand off to technical support teams
    • Responsible for supporting a positive, professional, team-oriented, harassment-free work environment by understanding and complying with Standard Operating Procedures
    • Assumes ownership of assigned responsibilities to meet organizational goals and objectives
    • Provide exceptional customer service and value

    Qualifications

    Key Competencies: 

     

    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. Strong attention to detail
    • Proficiency in industry-standard networking technologies including cabling, LAN, WAN, and various telecommunication access methods 
    • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple team members and/or independently as needed
    • Experience in administrative/support capacity of high availability systems
    • Ability to share knowledge, lead, and mentor less experienced team members
    • Demonstrated history of deep customer focus
    • Virtual network technologies
    • Industry standard networking technologies including TCP/IP, VLAN, MPLS, IPSEC VPN, etc
    • Industry standard security technologies (Cisco, Fortinet, SonicWall, Juniper, Palo Alto)
    • Demonstrated experience and success in enterprise IT engineering support roles

     

    Must be able to meet the below physical requirements:

     

    • Ability ascend/descend a latter in order to service company and client edutainment out of arms reach.   
    • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl to maintain computers at company or client sites, including under the desks and server closets (data centers).
    • Ability to move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

     

    Required Education:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Minimum 5-7 years of networking and security deploymentwithin a Managed Services Provider environment
    • Demonstrated understanding of complex IT solutions and surrounding network and security principles
    • Broad IT experience with heavy focus on Cloud & Virtualization technologies
    • Experience in the design and implementation of enterprise level solutions
    • Networking, security, and vendor certifications highly desired
    • Strong knowledge and understanding of technical infrastructures, including legacy networking technologies and system interdependencies
